Worth The Hype? ghd Straighteners♥

Only recently have I started straightening my hair. I never really used to bother because I didn't have my own pair of decent straighteners (I've been borrowing my mum's Remington straighteners for months now and they are actually pretty amazing) however, for my Christmas, I received a pair of the ghd V Gold Max Styler straighteners, completely unexpected! ghd are raved about non-stop, but the real question still lies - are they worth they hype?

One thing I was delighted to see was that the plates were thick and wide, which is absolutely ideal for me as I have overly thick hair. This means that I can straighten thicker sections of hair and it straightens my hair in a shorter period of time. It glides down my hair as easy as pie and I'm left with poker straight hair almost instantly.

Maybe I'm just easily amused, but I thought that the power switch was rather fancy. You click it either on or off, and it lights up. Once it has heated up, it makes a "beep" noise, which is an indicator that it is ready to be used. Another extra bonus is that it heats up fairly quickly, meaning there's no messing about before starting the dreaded chore (or not so bad with these bad boys!)

So the question is, are they worth the hype? As much as I do love them, and they are incredible, I believe that you could find straighteners that do the same thing for a lower price. They do leave my hair looking lush and straight, but also quite shiny too. If you're looking to splurge out on some straighteners, I highly recommend these, because as I've said, the wide plates really do make all the difference in both the overall finish of your hair, and the time it takes to do your hair.

What are your opinion on ghds?

  1. GHDS are the only straighters I use! I got a limited edition pair a few years back and still love them! I do really fancy the rose gold set! Xx

  2. Ghds really are amazing and your hair looks so good and healthy after straightening it with a ghd! But I don't straighten my hair very often so it wouldn't be worth getting one.. xx

  3. I can't get enough of my GHDs, I ended buying curlers and my hair dryer from there too! No other straighteners leave my hair this smooth, they don't seem to damage my hair as much as other brands either!

  4. For me, they aren't worth the price because I hardly ever straighten my hair, but I have always wanted some so no doubt I will buy some in the future!

    1. Yes they straighten your hair so quickly! Maybe it's the thick blades, or the heat or just because they're amazing! x

  6. I swear by my GHD's!!
I have yet to try another straightener that keeps the kinks out of my hair. I got a white pair about 5 years ago and they're still amazing. Probably should replace them at some point and won't hesitate to repurchase GHD's.
