Lord behold I am extremely late onto the bandwagon here. Brow pomades have been on the surface for what seems like forever now, and I only just bought my first one last month. You may be wondering what took me so long, and in all honesty, I'm still trying to rack my brain for a reasonable answer too. Being a brow amateur (I don't think I'll ever become a professional, nuhh-uhh!) I was afraid incase I bought one that made my eyebrows look awful, or I didn't have the skill to actually work with the product. But then despite the odds one day, I caved it and bought one.
I happened to be walking up and down the makeup aisle in Superdrug when I was drawn towards the Collection stand (I guess it must have been fate). I don't own all that much from Collection so thought I would take a look (I hadn't had a makeup shop in a good while). I was drawn in by their new Instant Brow Pomade, and it's introductory price of £2.99 - who could resist? I went for their darkest shade of "dark brunette", and they had another two available options.
Inside contains a small little pot, which was actually smaller than I had expected, but I wasn't bothered either way. The size means that it's small enough to use whilst on the go as it won't take up too much room. It's clean yet simple packaging is minimalistic but definitely suits the product - I reckon that anything too fancy wouldn't go.
The pomade claims to be waterproof and long lasting, and although I cannot prove if it's waterproof or not, I can assure you that it is long lasting. It's certainly buildable, which means you can create more simple brows, or dark, bold and heavily sculptured brows. I like my brows to be defined, but not too dark as I have found that it doesn't suit my face properly. I use a Real Techniques angled eyeliner brush, and I find that it works well with this product, and brushes on the strokes easily. Whenever I do my brows and brush them into place, I always have one patch on my right eyebrow that looks bald (I can promise you it certainly isn't bald) and this has no problem sorting this out. The shade matches my eyebrows really closely, I would say it's ever so slightly darker than my natural brows, so it doesn't look too light, dark or ashy in my brows. I do believe it may have the possibility of smudging, as I have discovered this whilst cleaning around my brows with a makeup sponge, but this is the only downside I have came across.
Here's a quick little shot of my brows after using the pomade. As you can see, they're not too dark for my face, but if you prefer darker, more emphasised and defined brows, it's possible with this product. (PS please excuse how uneven my brows look, I was needing them waxed haha).
Now that I look back, I cannot seem to comprehend why I never used to own a brow pomade. Typically, I use pencils or kits, but sometimes the pencils didn't do my brows justice, whilst the kits would leave my eyebrows "too full", so a pomade is just the right balance for me. After I finish this pomade, I definitely think I'll repurchase - it's full price is only £3.99, so why not?
Have you tried this brow pomade? Which ones are your favourite?
I use ABH Brow Pomade but this is such a great price I think I might have to try it!xx

I haven't ever tried ABH but it's perhaps a cheaper option to consider! x
DeleteOOhhh I didn't know that Collection made a pomade. That's very interetsing.
ReplyDeleteGreat alternative to the ABH!!

Yes it's pretty new still! Certainly a more inexpensive option! x
DeleteI didn't know collection sold a pomade, I'll definitely be checking it out. I'm like you, I always used to use powder or pencil and now that I've tried a pomade I could never see myself going back :)

I'm so glad that I bought one, my brows haven't ever looked so good before! x
DeleteI didn't know collection did a brow pomade! I was really into pomades for a while but I've got off them for now. I like how you make them defined with pomades though. I've only tried the makeup revolution and freedom ones xx

I was pretty scared to try one out haha, hence why I kept putting it off for so long! Now I'm really glad I've bought this x
DeleteYour brows look great! I would love to get into makeup because i never have. Usually i will just put on eyeliner & mascara. I did purchase the BareMinerals foundation & bronzer, i love how it makes me feel. As if i have my life together, hah.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've never tried Bare Minerals before! I'm sure my blog will help you create your very own makeup case with all of the reviews I have, and majority is drugstore too! x
DeleteI have this brow pomade too but in the brunette shade, I love it. Another one I recommend is the Freedom brow pomade for just a fiver from Boots! It's a bigger pot and I find it so much easier to work with. I find the collection pomade a lot softer but I love them both xx

It's really good! I've heard a lot about that one too, I'll need to give it a bash! x
DeleteI'm brand new to the world of brow pomades too! My go-to brow product is the NYX Micro Brow pencil and the one I was using ran out in July, so I headed to my local Boots to buy a replacement only to find that there were absolutely none. I didn't give up and tried other shops (I even tried the huge Boots on Oxford Street on a trip to London), but I couldn't find my shade ANYWHERE. So I gave up and bought the brow pomade instead, and I'm in love! I definitely want to try out more though, so this Collection pomade is next on my list. Great post!
